Forest restoration using Khế chua (Averrhoa Carambola)
Khế chua (Averrhoa carambola) is a familiar native tree well suited for forest restoration and agroforestry systems. With its fast growth and broad canopy, it improves ground cover, retains soil moisture, and absorbs CO₂ as it grows. Beyond its ecological value, sour starfruit juice has been traditionally used in folk medicine. Due to its natural acidity, the juice is also used as a natural, eco-friendly cleaning agent, including traditional dishwashing solutions, helping reduce chemical use and promote environmentally friendly practices.
