Forest restoration using Dổi xanh (Michelia Mediocris Dandy)
Dổi xanh (Michelia mediocris Dandy) is a valuable native hardwood species for forest restoration. With its evergreen canopy and strong adaptability, it improves forest cover, supports ecosystem recovery, and absorbs and stores CO₂ over the long term. When mature, the tree produces Dổi seeds—a traditional spice with high economic value—harvested seasonally without harming the tree. In addition, Dổi xanh timber is durable and dimensionally stable, making it suitable for traditional house construction and furniture making. Integrating Dổi xanh into restoration efforts creates multiple forest-based values, strengthens local livelihoods, and supports long-term forest protection.
